Tourism Australia has created a webpage showing which areas have been affected by ongoing bushfires to help tourist planning their trips.
The Australia Bushfire Information portal shows which tourism areas has been affected.
Bushfires have been burning across the east coast of Australia for several months, with about 11 million hectares of land affected.
Over 6,000 building have been destroyed and 28 people killed to date.
The Tourism Australia webpage has been developed in consultation with the Australian States and Territories and will be updated daily to ensure visitors have the latest up-to-date information. The page also provides links to general bushfire safety information and external resources where required.
Australia Tourism in a statement said “Most destinations in Australia remain safe and continue to welcome visitors and all international airports in Australia continue to operate as normal.
The statement added: “Though the fires are still burning in several regions, we hope these online resources will provide visitors with confidence to travel in Australia, providing the assurance that most popular tourism destinations remain untouched by the fires and need support as well”.
